VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A disturbing discovery at a Victorville gas station Sunday afternoon has prompted a coroner investigation after a teddy bear, reportedly wrapped in material resembling human skin, was found near the store’s entrance.

Deputies responded to the ARCO/AMPM in the 13600 block of Bear Valley Road at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 13, 2025, following a report of an object that “appeared to be human remains,” according to a written statement from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Mara Rodriguez.

Photos from the scene show the teddy bear sitting outside the storefront behind yellow crime scene tape.

Witnesses described the bear as having a face-like piece sewn onto its head, along with what appeared to be skin-like material stitched across its body.

A coroner investigator responded and collected the item for further examination.

While the object’s true origin has not yet been confirmed, a similar-looking teddy bear — made with fake gore and labeled as a “human skin teddy bear” — was found listed for sale on Etsy.

That discovery has led some to speculate that the incident may have been a staged prank or art piece.

As of Sunday afternoon, authorities have not verified the material or released further details. The investigation remains ongoing.

The gas station reopened to the public at approximately 2:15 p.m. after the scene was cleared.
