A team of Rolex thieves were snared by undercover police officers posing as a wealthy couple in Mayfair, London.

Yakob Harket, 21, of no fixed address, and Mohamed Naas, 35, of Jamaica Road, Southwark, were arrested after Harket attempted to steal a high-value watch from plain-clothed officers in Hays Mews at around 6.15pm on 10 October, last year.

Harket pleaded guilty to robbery and Naas was found guilty following a trial at Southwark Crown Court on 11 April.

Harket was jailed for two years while Naas was jailed for three years.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Uniform and plain clothes officers proactively patrol robbery hotspots to identify offences taking place, but more importantly to help prevent and deter offenders from committing robberies in the first place.”

Emergency crews responded to a level one mass casualty incident involving as many as 25 people experiencing overdose symptoms in Penn-North. Baltimore City fire and police officials said the city received an overdose call around 9:25 a.m. Thursday and that paramedics responded to the area of Pennsylvania and North avenues.

It was a dire situation at a mall parking lot in Cobb County, Georgia. Two young children could be seen in a sweltering hot car, whose temperatures reached 117 degrees. Concerned witnesses called 911, and when police arrived, they used a glass breaking tool to get into the car's front seat. "Hey buddy," one of the officers said. The children were comforted and given water; their father was taken into custody.

Two women were killed Sunday in a shooting at a church in Lexington, Kentucky, authorities said, following a violent series of events that began with a traffic stop.

According to the Lexington Police Department, the suspect first shot a Kentucky State Police trooper after being pulled over. The trooper survived and is being treated at a nearby hospital.

Nine people have died in a fire at an assisted living facility in Fall River, Massachusetts. Fire officials told reporters Monday that people were hanging out of windows screaming for help.

Firefighters responded to the Gabriel House assisted living facility in Fall River at about 9:50 p.m. Sunday where they encountered heavy smoke and flames at the front of the building, with residents trapped inside, according to the state Department of Fire Services news release. About 70 people live in the house.

Citing officials, the Associated Press reported that rescued people were taken to local hospitals, and five firefighters suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, the statement noted.
